Leaving

Today we are heading to Savannah so the kids dad can pick them up and spend Christmas with them. Sounds simple, eh? We are going to David's moms house to spend the night after the kid transfer and the next day we head into smallest-town-that-ever-did-small, Georgia where David grew up (mostly) to visit his grandparents and other family. We're going to pick up Jessica and hang out in STTEDS until Saturday when we will head to David's brothers house. Which will be a welcome sigh of relief, I'm sure, since Nick might be the most normal of all of David's family. Mine too come to think of it. Nick might be the best relative we have between us. Anyway, Sunday we drive back home and then the next weekend we do it all again to pick the boys up only we drive all the way to Florida and hang out with my side of the family. But only for a few hours because that's all I can do.

Sounds like tons of fun.

Cuteness

There's been no sunshine here for the past few days so I haven't been able to get any good pictures to post to Ravelry. I was going to wait until we got everything settled in and put in proper places but it occurs to me that I'm not that organized and that might not ever happen. So I have plans to take pictures of all the knitted goodness on the first sunny (or semi-sunny) day.

Tyler was playing outside a few days ago and one of his friends moms was talking about dogs. Tyler was telling her about how great Jake was and Jake this and Jake that and she asked what kind of dog Jake was. I didn't think he'd remember but without skipping a beat he said "he's a chocolate factory." Hee hee. Chocolate Lab = Chocolate Laboratory = Chocolate Factory.

We still aren't done Christmas shopping and I am having no fun with all of this. The Christmas baking is going along swimmingly. Too well in fact. There are baked goods all ovah the place up in here. Not so good for the weight loss efforts but eh, it's Christmas and I'm not actually eating very many of them.

Tylers Recital

Tyler had his first little recital today for Christmas. There is nothing cuter than a gaggle of kindergarten kids singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer complete with hand motions. Cute cute cute. Right in the middle of the performance Tyler spotted us in the audience, he waved enthusiastically and said HI MOMMY!

We drove the long way home to look at Christmas lights and had festive funfetti cupcakes for dessert. Maybe the Christmas spirit is sneaking up on us after all.

We Suck

I keep meaning to get all the Christmas stuff out and start decorating but after having just moved I can't get into the spirit at all. We already put the lights up outside and hung the wreath and the Christmas tree has been up for about a week and a half and there is only one little lonely decoration on it.

Once I start baking I'll feel more Christmas-y but I woke up this morning with my neck all swollen and my throat killing me. It's not strep and the doctor says my throat isn't all that red but something has my lymph nodes swollen. So in typical Navy fashion they prescribed Motrin and Sudafed.

The day has just flown by and I'm running out of time before the kids get home from school so I'm off to start the baking or decorating or something festive.

another first post

So we just got moved into the new house and I decided to try again with this blog thing. I've moved around to different blog services but the only two I've ever stuck with were Diaryland and Typepad. I like Typepad a little more so maybe maybe maybe I'll keep this up. We'll see.
